DEVON MEN VETERAN GOLFERS ASSOCIATION

We would like to welcome everyone, not only Golfers from Devon, but all those who have an interest in Devon and/or Golf.

Here in Devon we are extremely fortunate in that we have one of the, if not the most active and well organised veteran golfing associations in England - with 39 member clubs and nearly 1,600 individual members.
The main season runs from April through to October and comprises inter-club and individual competitions as well as matches against Cornwall, Kent, Devon Lady Veterans and Devon County Juniors.   We have now started a series of competitions that run through the winter as well, and are well attended with the same enthusiasm.     It is the Association’s aim to stage our members competitions at good courses at the very affordable price of £22.00, this for 18 holes of golf; a one course meal and entry into a ‘twos’ competition – that’s very good value! At this time all DMVGA Competitions are limited to a maximum handicap of 28 at the time of entry, as this covers 99% of our members.
The highlight of the Devon veteran golfers’ year is, undoubtedly, the DMVGA Emerton-Court inter club knock out competition. Played on a home and away basis, the competition is highly competitive, but, as with all DMVGA competitions, played in the very best of spirit and in the best traditions of the sport. All the events provide an opportunity to mix with, and enjoy the company of, golfers from around the county in a competitive yet friendly and sociable environment.
Each member club has a representative who liaises with the DMVGA with regard to registration, entry to all competitions, clarification on rulings for all DMVGA competitions and other general matters.
To participate in any of the DMVGA events players should be 60 or over and shall be bona fide members of Devon Golf Clubs affiliated to Devon Golf Ltd. – and have paid the grand sum of £3.00 to their club DMVGA rep! Those wishing to join should seek out their DMVGA club representative, whose name can be found on the Club Contact List, which can be found under the heading of ‘News’ on this website.
